What is the Frontline Capability Development Matrix?

  1. High Capability/High Potential: Employees are already performing well and have the potential to do even better. These employees should be given additional challenges and opportunities to grow and develop.
  2. High Capability/Low Potential: Employees are performing well but may not have the potential to do much better. These employees should be given additional training and support to help them maintain their current level of performance.
  3. Low Capability/High Potential: Employees are not performing well but have the potential to do better. These employees should be given additional training and support to help them reach their potential.
  4. Low Capability/Low Potential: Employees are not performing well and do not have the potential to do much better. These employees should be given additional training and support, but may need to be moved to a different role or even let go.

What is the purpose of the Frontline Capability Development Matrix?

The Frontline Capability Development Matrix is a 2x2 matrix used to assess the capability of frontline employees, and to identify areas for improvement. It is based on two axes: the employee's current level of capability and their potential for development.

The matrix is divided into four quadrants: High Capability/High Potential, High Capability/Low Potential, Low Capability/High Potential, and Low Capability/Low Potential. Each quadrant represents a different type of employee, and each requires a different approach to development.

In the High Capability/High Potential quadrant, employees are already performing well and have the potential to do even better.
