  2. Repeatable: Established processes and procedures, but not yet optimized (e.g. IT project management is in place, but not yet optimized)
  3. Defined: Established processes and procedures that are optimized and standardized (e.g. IT project management is optimized and standardized)
  4. Optimized: Established processes and procedures that are optimized and standardized, and continuously improving (e.g. IT project management is optimized and standardized, and improvements are made on an ongoing basis)

The IT Capability Maturity Matrix is a two-by-two matrix that helps organizations assess their IT capabilities and identify areas for improvement.
