What is the purpose of the Employee Skills-Value Matrix?

The Employee Skills-Value Matrix is a 2x2 matrix used to assess the value of an employee's skillset to the organization. It is used to identify areas of improvement, prioritize training, and create development plans. The matrix is divided into four quadrants: High Value/High Skill, High Value/Low Skill, Low Value/High Skill, and Low Value/Low Skill.

The High Value/High Skill quadrant represents the skills that are both highly valued and highly developed. These skills are the ones that the employee should focus on developing further. The High Value/Low Skill quadrant represents skills that are highly valued but not yet developed. These are the skills that the employee should focus on developing. The Low Value/High Skill quadrant represents skills that are highly developed but not valued by the organization. These skills may need to be downplayed or transferred to another job. Finally, the Low Value/Low Skill quadrant represents skills that are neither valued nor developed. These skills should be eliminated or replaced.

The Employee Skills-Value Matrix is a useful tool for managers to assess the value of their employees' skillsets and create development plans that will benefit both the employee and the organization.
