The Environmental Impact-Performance Matrix is a tool used to assess the environmental performance of a company or product. The matrix is divided into four quadrants: high performance and low environmental impact (top left), high performance and high environmental impact (top right), low performance and low environmental impact (bottom left), and low performance and high environmental impact (bottom right). Each quadrant represents a different level of environmental performance and can be used to identify areas of improvement.

For example, a company that is in the top left quadrant (high performance and low environmental impact) is doing well in terms of environmental performance. However, a company that is in the bottom right quadrant (low performance and high environmental impact) is not doing well and should focus on improving its environmental performance.
